Romantic Honeymoon Planning - Making Of A Perfect Honeymoon

Marriages are made in heaven but honeymoons are planned on earth. Like a marriage is a significant part of life, the honeymoon is an important part of marriage. The honeymoon is to marriage what marriage is to life. One without the other is unnatural and unthinkable. The honeymoon is a very special aspect of newly-married life and holds a special place in one's heart even years later.

Days of labour and planning go into making the marriage ceremonies a success. Even the minutest of details are taken care of. There is planning for every element of the ceremonies.

The venue is planned, the trousseau, the caterer, the jewellery, the beautician, the gifts, the invites, the florist; nobody wants to settle for the second best while planning for the marriage function.

Why then settle for the second best for the honeymoon? A perfect honeymoon also needs proper planning. Many a time, the honeymoon is taken for granted and the couple makes a quick visit to a nearby hill station for a few days. This makes it a mere formality.

Even within one's budget the honeymoon can be made an unforgettable experience if there is proper planning. Here is what you need to do for enjoying a perfect honeymoon.

Decide on the budget:

One should be clear on the budget. There shouldn't be vagueness about it. It spoils the honeymoon. You should also keep a margin of five to 10 per cent extra on the budget, in case your stay extends by a day or two. The budget should include the travelling costs, board and lodging, sightseeing and shopping.

There are a number of destinations that can fall within your stipulated budget. Since the honeymoon is special to both partners, they can share the budget to make their honeymoon more luxurious.

Avoid Postponement:

Except because of unavoidable circumstances, the honeymoon should immediately follow the marriage as the partners crave for each other's company and want to escape the house full of guests. A delay can take away the fun and the spirit of escaping the crowd. So please go for the honeymoon as early as possible - but only after the marriage!

Check "honeymoon packages" with tour and travel agencies:

In case you are not able to arrange for the travel tickets and hotel bookings for any reason consult a good tour and travel agency. Such agencies have many packages available that can fit your taste and pocket.

Go for the destination that will suit the tastes of both the partners:

In a new marriage, both the partners try to please each other and give preference to each other's opinion. This seems sweet but is it all right when you are deciding on the destination for your honeymoon? What if one wants to go to a hill station, whereas the other secretly longs for the beaches? The honeymoon is a special and unique experience for both the partners and the destination should be the one that can offer something to both.

The couple should openly discuss the issue and settle on the programme that meets their taste.

Pack bags before marriage:

Since the days after the marriage are hectic, it is better if the honeymoon bags are packed before the marriage. If the destination is predetermined, then it shouldn't be a problem, since you will know the kind of clothes needed. The boy can pack his bag at leisure and the girl can pack her bag at her parents' place and carry it to her new home.

Before packing, a list of things that you need to carry must be made. This way you will be able to pack all the things that will be required. Last-minute packing is both stressful and exhausting. Who would want to subject oneself to this anxiety just after marriage?

Travel light:

Avoid carrying the things that you will not be requiring. Forget those novels! They are unnecessary weight and, believe me, you will not be getting the time to have your cute nose in a book when you have a new spouse beside you. The more luggage you carry, the more cumbersome it will be for you.

Carry clothes that are both practical and comfortable. Saris, my dear, are not really practical. What if you decide to go horse riding? Well-fitting jeans and trousers look smart and are easy to re-use without washing or ironing. Don't forget to carry a small first-aid kit and the camera to capture those precious moments.

Carry plastic money:

Carrying too much cash is risky and worrisome. Since most of the good hotels and shops accept credit cards, it is smart to carry your credit card or an ATM Debit card. You can always withdraw the cash as and when you need it. Also, avoid carrying too much jewellery. It is an unnecessary risk.

Two's company three's a crowd:

Don't club your honeymoon with other honeymooners. Let it be your special and unique trip. With other couples around, you might not get as much privacy as you are looking for. Politely decline the suggestion and go for the honeymoon all by yourselves.

Don't forget dear friends and relatives:

Remember to buy some knick-knacks for the people dear to you. By doing so you will be remembering them and making them a part of your special time. Don't go for crazy shopping, just some souvenirs will do.

Be loving, don't be judgemental:

A honeymoon is the time when a couple gets some private moments. They will get to know each other from closer angles. There might be some revelations about each other, some opinions, mannerism or habits that might put one off the other.

Don't let this situation exist during the honeymoon. Diffuse the situation as early as possible and avoid bringing up subjects that might upset the other. Talk of the things that cheer up the mood.

Also, show appreciation of the other, be it the way one dresses or walks or behaves. Avoid being judgemental at this stage. An entire lifetime is lying ahead for judgements, opinions, suggestions and improvements.

Remember, good memories will last forever and blossom like a flower in your heart, bad memories will also last forever but will feel like thorns.

So, people, plan your honeymoon well in advance, and make it an astounding success.

Good luck!

For Romance, Stay in the Honeymoon Capitals

Trying to decide where to honeymoon? Well, let?s face it, the honeymoon world is your oyster, as you have a mind numbing number of options. So, why not narrow your list to the unofficial ?Honeymoon Capitals?: Niagara Falls, The Poconos in Pennsylvania; and Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls has long been known as the ?Honeymoon Capital of the World.? Some of the earliest honeymooning couples include Theodosia Burr, daughter of U.S. Vice-President Aaron Burr (yes, that Aaron Burr), who honeymooned with her new husband, Joseph Aliston in 1802, and Jerome Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon (yes, that Napoleon), who honeymooned with his new wife, Elizabeth Patterson in 1804.

It may not be the tallest waterfall in the world, but it is certainly the most famous, located on the border between the New York and Ontario. Niagara Falls is actually a collection of three waterfalls: Horseshoe Falls (called by some the Canadian Falls), the American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls, with Horseshoe Falls considered the most spectacular of the three.

The Pocono Mountains:

Did you know the Pocono Mountains is also referred to as "The Honeymoon Capital of the World"? Well, it?s true. As a matter of fact, over 200,000 honeymooning couples each year choose to begin their married life in the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania, which boasts 2,400 square miles of wooded peaks and valleys with crystal clear lakes, rushing rivers, and some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the eastern United States.

The Poconos specializes in honeymoons, with several adult-only resorts available, as well as spas for those who love to be pampered. Choosing a cabin in the Poconos affords you privacy and romance, with access to all the fine spas and restaurants that will make your honeymoon even more special.

If you want to venture out of your cabin or resort there are numerous activities in the Poconos to keep you busy: hiking, biking, boating, golf, tennis, sightseeing, horseback riding, swimming, skiing, sledding, and snowmobiling.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee ? Great Smoky Mountains

Gatlinburg is known as the ?Honeymoon Capital of the South,? so you know it must have great amenities for honeymooners. Gatlinburg is adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park which receives approximately 9 million visitors per year. The reason the area receives so many visitors is the incredible beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains, as well as the availability of lodging and services in nearby Gatlinburg. But, don?t let the number of visitors scare you away. A cabin in Gatlinburg will give you the privacy you need for your honeymoon.

Cabins in Gatlinburg are some of the most luxurious around. For example, America?s Cabins, Inc. have honeymoon cabins available with heart-shaped jacuzzi tubs, hot tubs on outside decks overlooking spectacular mountain scenery, pool tables, washer/dryers, cable and fireplaces. They can be reached at 800-900-7717.

The benefit of staying in one of the ?Honeymoon Capitals? is that the businesses are geared to service honeymooners, and you can probably find many different honeymoon packages which can save you money. And, besides, isn?t it just cool to say you honeymooned in the ?Honeymoon Capital? of somewhere?

Essential Tips For Cheap Honeymoons

The time is right for you to get married, but between the wedding, the reception, and the bridal party gifts, you're not sure how you're going to afford the honeymoon. The post-wedding celebration can often be quite expensive, but you don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great time. The cheap honeymoons can be just as memorable and enjoyable as an expensive one.

How can you have wonderful cheap honeymoons? Well, the easiest way to save money on this trip is to stay somewhere close to home. If you do this, you can save money on:

* Airfare

* Shuttle to and from the airport

* Parking fees if you park at the lot

* Passport application fees

Staying close to home on cheap honeymoons also means that you'll be much more likely to find a great deal. You have a better chance of knowing what prices are reasonable in your area and what so-called deals are little more than marketing. Another inexpensive honeymoons idea is to go on a road trip instead of flying. If you are the outdoorsy type, camping or even renting a cabin can be less expensive than many other types of honeymoon options.

Consider taking the train for the cheap honeymoons . This romantic mode of travel is also very comfortable and quite affordable. It gives the whole trip a kind of glamour that simply is not available with flying. You can take a sleeper train and save the money you would have spent on a night in a hotel. That means you could splurge and get a nicer room the next night.

Travel in the off-season for the cheap honeymoons . If you are getting married in February, don't honeymoon in Hawaii. Plan for a cozy week in a snug bed and breakfast rather than a beach trip to Hawaii. However, if you are getting married in September, check the rates for Hawaii. That's actually the off-season there, and you might find a good deal.

Keep your eyes open for spectacular package deals. They do still exist and can be a great way to the cheap honeymoons . Sometimes you can save big on a cruise or with an all-inclusive package. Get an interior cabin for your cruise. They cost a lot less, and have many of the same amenities.

An all-inclusive resort may be able to bundle your wedding ceremony, reception and honeymoon into one fee, which could be a lot lower than what you would pay separately. A wonderful, economical honeymoon can be yours, with just a little legwork.

Tips for Safe Honeymooning Abroad

After reviewing international honeymoon packages online, you can begin planning your romantic, once-in-a-lifetime adventure as man and wife. Most countries, states and cities will gladly send you free information. Most likely your chosen destination will have their own website to give you details about weather, traffic, language, money, sites of interest, shopping and lodging.

These are some safety precautions that will give peace of mind to overseas travel:

? Read the Public Announcements, regarding travel warnings, on the U.S. State Department's website at www.state.gov.

? Make 2 copies of your passport identification page in case it is lost or stolen. Leave one copy at home with relatives and carry the other in a separate place from your passport.

? Familiarize yourself with local customs and laws of the countries to which you are traveling.

? Leave a copy of your itinerary, including hotel names, addresses, and phone numbers with family so that you can be contacted in case of an emergency.

? Carry as little currency as possible. Instead use travelers checks, ATM cards and credit cards for your spending needs.

? Invest in a money belt that sits on your waist under your clothes. Don't tempt purse snatchers or pickpockets-keep your cash well concealed at all times.

? Some countries require an international driver's license or permit. An American driver's license is valid in most of Europe. Check with your local Department of Motor Vehicles.

? To avoid being a target of crime, try not to wear expensive jewelry, conspicuous clothing, or carry excessive amounts of money.

? If you get into trouble, or need more information about the area, contact the nearest U.S. embassy upon arrival.

? When choosing a hotel, make safety, not price or location your main priority.

What Your Hawaii Honeymoon Package Should Include

When you decide to go to Hawaii and spend your honeymoon there, the next thing you should do is to find an online site or a travel agent and search or ask for a Hawaii honeymoon package. You may ask: ?What should a Hawaii honeymoon package include??

Here are those:

Plane tickets to Hawaii.

Any travel package including the Hawaii honeymoon package should include plane tickets. 8 major airlines fly you in and out of Hawaii: Northwest Airlines, Continental, United Airlines, American, Hawaiian, ATA, Aloha, and Delta. If you want to go to more than one island, you can book for inter-island flights. Hawaiian Airlines and Aloha offer this service.

Hotel accommodation.

When you book for a Hawaii honeymoon package, the second most important thing to consider is your hotel accommodation. The good thing about Hawaii is that it offers hundreds of resorts, hotels and condos where you can stay and enjoy the place. These resorts, hotels, and condos range from the economy up to the most luxurious accommodation. The best and the most economical hotels, resorts, and condos are location among the 6 islands in Hawaii. Famous names like Sheraton, Hilton, Hyatt, Westin, Marriott, Renaissance, Outrigger, and ResortQuest to name a few are here.

Hotel amenities

Included in your Hawaii honeymoon package are the amenities you can get from your hotel. These include spa, massage, breakfast in bed, and exclusive dinner. You can also have a special dinner or special activity outside the hotel. All these can be inquired or requested when you are booking for your Hawaii honeymoon package.

Car rental.

Although you can acquire for an airport transfer, car rentals can be an option and highly recommended to have. You can use the help of a car to go around all the islands (except Oahu).

Dinning

There are several advantages you can get when you include food in your package. There are also several disadvantages. But the bottom line is, if you want your meal to be secured while in Hawaii, you can opt to have it included; if, however, you decide to have freedom to eat anywhere in the island, you can opt not to include it.

Most of travel agents and online sites offer personalized Hawaii honeymoon package deals. This means you have the freedom to choose your itineraries and the type of accommodation you want. Ask for it and see and experience things you have always dreamed of.

How To Cut 30% Off Your Honeymoon

1.Plan Ahead ? Contrary to popular belief, the best prices, especially on luxury vacations, go to those who plan well in advance. In fact, many better cruise cabins and luxury resorts just aren't available if you wait. Many cruise lines and resorts offer and early booking discounts. Airlines, too, reward those who book early, with lower fares and more desirable seat assignments.

2.Consider a Honeymoon Registry - Let your friends and family help pay for your honeymoon by signing up for a honeymoon registry. Similar to a department store registry for silver, china, or housewares, a honeymoon registry is sponsored by a travel company or agency and allows wedding guests to pay into a fund for your honeymoon.

3.Stay Close to Home ? You don't have to necessarily go far from home to be romantic. Consider a night or two in your town's most luxurious hotel or charming bed and breakfast. What you save in airfare will buy a romantic dinner for two or perhaps even a suite. Most cities have attractions within a short drive ? perhaps a wine growing region or a scenic lake or a natural attraction, like Niagara Falls. Just because it's near to home doesn't mean it won't make a great honeymoon choice.

4.Go Luxury, but Go Shorter ? Do you have your heart set of that luxury resort or destination, but it's just outside of your budget? Consider booking a five-night stay rather than a seven-night one. You'll still get to stay at the resort of your dreams without having to settle for something cheaper.

5.Book an All-Inclusive Resort or a Cruise ? Having your entire honeymoon expenses included in one price can really help to save money. Resorts, such as Sandals in the Caribbean, and ClubMed, worldwide, include accommodations, transportation, meals, drinks, watersports, and more ? all in one prepaid price. No searching for an affordable place for dinner or trying to negotiate with a watersports vendor. It's all included. Cruises, too, offer a 20 to 30 percent savings over similar land-based vacations and include meals, entertainment, transfers, and accommodations all in one price.

6.Save on Meals ? Three meals a day can really dip into your honeymoon funds ? and who can resist all of those tempting dishes? Save on meals by preparing a few of your own. If you are staying in a condo, making sandwiches or a salad for lunch can save a bundle. Plus, you don't have to interrupt your beach time by dressing to go to the dining room. Even hotel rooms with just a refrigerator can accommodate such things as salads, deli turkey, and cheese.

If you're traveling in a big city, consider eating as the locals do: in New York, sample the street fare, in London, try a pub lunch, and in Paris, pick up a baguette, some cheese, and wine and head for the park. For beverages, stick to local beers and wines.

Get Married Or Honeymoon In South Africa

Making your wedding ?just perfect? entails a blend of factors, not least of which includes the dress ?to die for? and a great venue. With Cape Town, South Africa as the city of choice for your big day, you won?t have far to look. Cape Town is the city of fair skies, gorgeous beaches, magnificent gardens and an extensive list of wedding and reception venues. Outdoor locations for wedding photographs abound.

Picture the oldest and largest botanical gardens in South Africa, Kirstenbosch, with the eastern slopes of Table Mountain as your backdrop. These gardens alone contain as many as 6 000 floral species and over 22 000 indigenous plants, so whatever your colour scheme and whatever season you choose, there will be blooms to augment and complement your style.

Early morning shoots are probably best for Cape Town?s beaches as the Cape Doctor ? another name for the spring and early summer south-easterly wind that prevails in the city - tends to make its presence felt in the afternoons, although with it comes Table Mountain?s legendary table cloth ? providing yet another perfect photo setting.

Nevertheless, you are spoilt for choice as the Mother City has some of the most picturesque beaches in the world with wide expanses of sand, sparkling water and strategically placed boulders for those ?photo? moments.

From the fashionable beaches of Cape Town?s ?Riviera? ? the Atlantic Seaboard ? including Camps Bay, Llandudno (definitely one of the most beautiful) and Noordhoek with its miles of sand and dunes, to the beaches of False Bay offering some real character beaches, such as St James or Boulders.

The wine estates in and around Cape Town all have a unique beauty of their own. Invariably wine estates lie tucked into picturesque valleys, surrounded by majestic mountains and vineyards heavy with grapes during the summer months.

The Cape West Coast, until recently largely unexplored and unexploited, is a region of unrivalled beauty and geographical diversity. This area of the world is renowned for its spectacular display of wild flowers during spring, its unspoilt beaches and beautiful mountain ranges and picturesque little towns like Darling, St Helena Bay and the fishing village of Paternoster.

And if that doesn?t tempt you then the Garden Route?s shadowy forests, peaceful lakes and wetlands or the Overberg?s numerous quaint villages and the dry Karoo with a sullen beauty all of her own ? flat, sandy plains, shimmering heat and distant smoky-blue mountains ? certainly will.

Honeymoon Cruisers - Preparing For Your Trip

Cruising is very romantic leisure activity. With such an amorous setting whereby you can enjoy a fine champagne and enjoy the cool ocean breeze, it's no wonder that many honeymoon couples are planning to go for a cruise these days.

If you are planning for a cruise with your partner, here are some questions for you to ponder over before you pay for your cruise ticket.

a. What type of honeymoon packages is available? Caribbean theme, wedding on ships, luxurious couples packages and so on.

b. Is there any free discounts, perks or extra treats? Some cruise liners give away free champagne as well as special cabin upgrades to honeymoon couples. As always, it's fun to enjoy privileges without paying for them.

c. Are you after a king size bed or those staterooms with Jacuzzi in them? Mega cruise ships have them, whereas those smaller ones may be lacking in these kind of facilities.

d. Is there a private veranda? A veranda is like a balcony and is the few private spot left for a cruise couple in a cruise ship. Check to see if it is available in the first place. If it is, ask questions like how spacious the veranda is and whether your adjacent neighbor got chance to interrupt your peace.

e. What kind of age groups does the cruise ships has on board? Chances are you would not want to catch up with seniors' citizens who are on sightseeing tours nor would you want to be caught in a cruise ships full of kids running about. If you are after romance, you will most likely want to see a few other couples your age on board.

Remember, good memories will last forever and blossom like a flower in your heart, bad memories will also last forever but will feel like thorns.

So, people, plan your honeymoon well in advance, and make it an astounding success.

Good luck!

What Can A Costa Rica Honeymoon Offer You

Costa Rica has become one of the main attractions of Central America due to its rich wildlife, beaches and scenic oceanic coast. It is of little surprise that many couples today invest in a Costa Rica honeymoon and sometimes even to get married.

What Is In Store For A Costa Rica Honeymoon?

A couple?s honeymoon is a period of time that they dedicate to one another to create their first memories and the bond that will last a lifetime. It is therefore important to choose a place that will help them reflect on their life together from today on and celebrate their relationship and marriage.

A Costa Rica honeymoon offers all that and more; peaceful hotels with a natural environment that will take you back in time but with all the amenities you can wish for that will let you sit back and relax in your partner?s company.

The wildlife of Costa Rica is still untouched by the human presence even tough there are a vast number of tourists visiting this beautiful port. If you feel adventurous, there are many activities to join and challenge your partner and if you wish to have a romantic evening all you need to do is walk on the beach and watch the sunset; you will be surprised how the simplest things in life are the most precious with the right person.

Things To Know About Costa Rica

Spanish is the language widely spoken in Costa Rica but English is understood and adopted as well by most locals of this part of the country. If you enjoy coffee, Costa Rica produces some of the finest coffee in the world, which you can taste and pick as you desire.

Their local currency is always favorable in comparison to the US Dollar so, you will always have to gain in that aspect, besides, you will find most shopping and dinning extremely inexpensive compared to the US.

Booking Your Hotel

There are two ways to book your Costa Rica honeymoon: one is through a travel agent who usually will work with you and your budget in order to get you the best deal and rates and the other way if directly online.

Online you will find many options and packages and therefore you may need to shop a bit around before you get the best available package for you. Read the details carefully; ensure the prices are quoted in US Dollars and not the local currency and always ask for Costa Rica honeymoon specials to get a special rate or package.

A Honeymoon in the Caribbean

Weddings are obviously special occasions and couples often dream of the perfect setting through the ceremony as well as the following honeymoon. There are things known as the "best honeymoon" whose definition undergoes a sharp revision with changes in taste and the political situations in the so called ideal honeymoon locations. However, one such spot has always been standing solid as the perfect spot for honeymoon couples and that is the Caribbean.

A Caribbean honeymoon means traveling to a spot of the world where the calm seas and wonderful beaches only add to the pleasure of the company you have with all of nature in perfect tune with your feelings. When you go to a Caribbean honeymoon you never have to worry about time because being in the Caribbean means that you are free to do what you choose regardless of whatever time-based pressures you might have in your normal every-day life. The tropical and rich Caribbean honeymoon resorts are a great way to start a married life for any couple.

The islands of the Caribbean stretch from the northern coast of Venezuela to South Florida. These islands are all of them romantic and great places to visit for a honeymoon. While you are there, apart from taking in the beautiful sunsets and the beaches you can also take part in other activities like hiking and snorkeling, or you could simply go for a walk along the Caribbean Sea at any time you wish. There are several islands that you may choose from including Antigua, Aruba, Punta Cana, Jamaica, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos. It does not matter where you plan your Caribbean honeymoon, as all of the islands are a perfect delight.

One of the most popular spots in the Bahamas is the world-renowned Cable Beach. Other popular places include the Wyndham Nassau Resort and the Crystal Palace Casino, both of which are excellent choices for a Caribbean honeymoon. If you and your partner like healthy organic foods then you should serious consider the Parrot Cay at Turks & Caicos where you can find a good mix of Mediterranean and Asian foods.

You should shop around among the various Caribbean honeymoon resorts that offer options like ocean views, daily breakfast and dinner, French Champagne, health cults, Yoga classes, snorkeling and other water sports, spas, and so on. Just a little bit of browsing will enable you to pick the perfect Caribbean honeymoon from among the several choices that are available.

James Penn runs the highly informative Caribbean website http://www.caribbean-charm.com which details how to find cheap Caribbean cruises and also the ten best activities in the Caribbean at http://www.caribbean-charm.com/caribbean-activities.html for families and couples.

Second Honeymoon - Don't Wait Till You Need One

Hey, remember that honeymoon you and your new spouse took oh so many years ago? Wasn't it wonderful? The romance? The walks on the beach? The kisses under the moonlight?

Now, if you're thinking, "yeah, those were the days," then you and your beloved are due for a second honeymoon. That's right, a second honeymoon. Who said romance and spontaneity has to go away just because you've been married for awhile. Newlyweds don't corner the market on romance, you know.

So, now that you're warm to the idea of a second honeymoon, it's time to pick a place. Let's see, where shall it be? Now, if you're steering towards packing up the kids and taking off to the Grand Canyon, stop right there. This is not a family vacation. It's a second honeymoon, and one unofficial rule of a second honeymoon is NO KIDS! Not that there's anything wrong with kids. And yours are probably cute and adorable, especially in their little footie pajamas. But, cute, adorable and footie pajamas don't belong on a honeymoon. They belong back home with grandma and grandpa.

One spot you might consider for your second honeymoon is probably one you and the family wouldn't consider for your family vacation, which makes it even more perfect for your honeymoon. May I suggest St. Thomas, one of the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Well, of course, being an island, St. Thomas can't help but be a romantic place to stay for your second honeymoon. And, if you want to be pampered, you might consider staying at one of the fine Spa Resorts on St. Thomas. Below are a couple of Resort Spas of note:

The Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa

340-777-7100

The award-winning Wyndham is one of St. Thomas' most popular all-inclusive resort spas. What does all-inclusive mean? It means that many amenities are included in one package, which usually helps cut down on costs. Amenities like:

*All Meals and Snacks

*All Beverages - including premium liquor and house wine

*All activities, recreation, entertainment and non-motorized watersports, which includes tennis, basketball, beach volleyball, windsurfing, kayaks and snorkeling.

*Access to the Fitness Center

*Taxes and Gratuities - that's right, no tipping required.

There is an additional Spa Package for those who wish to avail themselves of the spa facilities.

The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas

340-775-3333

Another great resort on St. Thomas is the Ritz-Carlton, undergoing a $40 million renovation and enhancement project, to be completed in December 2006. The Ritz-Carlton is located on a 30-acre estate overlooks the water and white-sand beaches of the eastern tip of St. Thomas.

Those going on second honeymoons might be interested in their "Reconnect Package" which includes ocean front accommodations, daily breakfast for two, and one half-day Lady Lynsey sail for two guests per stay.

No matter where you stay on St. Thomas, do venture out and explore the wonderful beaches that St. Thomas has to offer. While your resort probably has its own private beach, you should take the opportunity and explore all the other public beaches as well.

Coki Point

A small, yet popular beach with calm waters. Coki Point is great for boat, jet skiing, scuba diving and snorkeling, with onsite beach rentals of equipment.

Magens Bay

A very popular beach, often thought of as the best beach in all of St. Thomas. You have to pay for its popularity, however. There is a small entry fee. Another place for sailing, snorkeling and kayaking.

Secret Harbor

Interested in diving? Then head out to Secret Harbor, which is considered ideal for diving. An onsite dive rental shop can assist you with equipment.

Lindquist Beach

An undeveloped beach with no equipment rental or food stands. If you want to get away from the commercial beaches, this is the place.

Wherever you stay, or beaches you visit, take time to relax and rediscover one another. Who knows, maybe you'll decide to renew your vows at the same time. Does that mean you then will go on a third honeymoon? Hm, well, there's an idea.

Why Half of All Mergers Fail after the Honeymoon End

Marriages and corporate mergers in America have at least one thing in common, more than 50 percent end up on the rocks. In fact, according to a McKinsey study, only 23 percent ever recover the costs of walking down the corporate aisle. Another study showed that over 40 percent actually lose shareholder value.

These statistics should quell the corporate urge to merge, but, like young lovers, logic seldom gets in the way of romance.

A merger between families illustrates the difficulty of creating an ideal marriage. Two single parents, each with their own children, pets, and old habits, decide to marry and join their families into one.

Because mom and dad are so in love, they fail to see that the kids don't get along, the cat hates the dog, and their single TV can only handle one show at a time. Reality slowly begins to creep into paradise.

The cover of the February 7, 2005 issue of Fortune reads "Why Carly's Big Bet is Failing, referring to Hewlett Packers acquisition of Compaq. And the list goes on:

Take Bell Atlantic and Nynex. They are already experiencing resistance to change from some of their family. The Communications Workers of America have voiced concerns about this merger. Both companies appear to have different approaches to unions. Bell Atlantic appears more confrontational, while Nynex in recent years has tried to build stronger ties to the CWA. How this gets handled, might be the first test of who holds the remote control during prime time in this new family. Will the telecommunications giants work together to develop a strategy for working with the union? Or, will they leave things to chance?

Bell Atlantic and Nynex, was not the only engagement announced recently. Time Warner and Turner, Aetna and US Healthcare, SBC Communications and Pacific Telesis Group have promised to join hands as well. In each instance, the decision to merge makes good business sense. Bright people using sound data, keeping the interests of shareholders in mind, made these decisions. Unfortunately most of the attention will be on regulatory issue, finances, and grand organizational designs. The subtle and seemingly soft issues like how decisions get made may be left to chance. If so, this could be disastrous.

The betrothed companies will need to pay attention to the fact that they are attempting to blend different ways of working. I urge these companies to consider the following as they work on their wedding vows. How are decisions made? Do they come down from on high like lightning bolts from Zeus, or do people engage in a more democratic and slower process?

How do people get things done? When an accountant needs to talk with her counterpart in marketing, must she go to her boss, who in turn talks to his peer, who in turn relays the message to her subordinate? Or do people just move freely in and out of departments with little formal regard for rank?

What do communications systems look like? Does one company have an integrated management information system complete with e-mail and sophisticated intranet linkages, while its counterpart relies on pneumatic tubes, bulletin boards, and face-to-face contact?

How are people rewarded in the two companies? Who gets bonuses, promotions, and coveted assignments? Does one company applaud risk taking and initiative while the other reveres people who play by the rules?

What's punished? Is telling the truth like the child in the emperor's new clothes appreciated or does the speaker find he has just become a pariah?

Since each company believes that its way of operating is how God intended life to be in corporate America, major differences in culture could be difficult issues to face. It will important to persist. Typically, the more powerful partner prevails, but only at a cost. The Aweaker@ partner resists being told to change and this leads to subtle or profound resistance that hinders or stops efforts to merge operations. AT&T's purchase of National Cash Register was a disaster, in large part, because the far-larger parent company tried to inflict its culture on a company that was proud of its rich heritage.

There is a choice. The two companies can identify these differences. Recognize what's good about each culture and then determine jointly how they will face the future as a unified force. All these proposed mergers will face many tests to their cultures over the coming months. They can use these incidents as opportunities to examine differences and consciously select a way of working that fits the challenges they will face in coming years, or they can just hope they will live happily ever after.

Wintertime Honeymoon Vacation Ideas in Yellowstone

Yellowstone area is a big draw for honeymooners. If you're looking for ideas, check out our Top Ten Activities and Winter Activities pages at www.yellowstone-area-guide.com. My son and his wife spent their honeymoon in West Yellowstone and the surrounding area just last December (2005). They absolutely loved it.

When most people go on their honeymoon they don't particularly want a set agenda where they need to keep a schedule. Still, there are some that want to squeeze as many activities as they can. I've put together several sample agendas that take the work out of planning your honeymoon. My wife, being the romantic that she is, has helped me put this article together. So here are some great honeymoon vacation ideas.

West Yellowstone Honeymoon

Sample Agenda #1

Wakeup, eat breakfast at your hotel or eat at the Running Bear Pancake House. It's located at 538 Madison Avenue. It's easy to find and they serve an excellent breakfast.

After breakfast drive or walk on over to #208 Electric Street. Once there, find Yellowstone Arctic Yamaha, go inside and rent 2 snowmobiles. Get a good map of the trails in the West Yellowstone and Island Park area, and go have a blast. Another option; call beforehand and make reservations (406 646-9636) to take a guided snowmobile tour inside Yellowstone Park. There is really nothing like seeing Yellowstone with a blanket of snow covering everything. Make it a half-day or full-day excursion. Take a lunch.

After eating, go to the Yellowstone IMAX. Each show starts on the hour beginning at 9 am and running until 9 pm.

When the show is over, if you haven't had dinner, go to Bullwinkles Saloon and Eatery. They are at #19 Madison.

Go back to your room and relax. Winter Sample Agenda #2

Wake up and get breakfast.

Go cross country skiing on the Rendezvous Trail System. It's an olympic class trail. You can rent skis at Bud Lillys Trout Shop or FreeHeel and Wheel. If you're a novice, they can give you some basic instruction. It's an activity that you can do for an hour or all day long.

Jackson Hole Honeymoon

Winter Sample Agenda #3

Get breakfast.

Spend the rest of the day downhill skiing. You have 2 resorts to choose from; Snow King right in Jackson or Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at Teton Village. Both offer great skiing.

In the afternoon or evening when you get done with your hike, instead of driving straight back to Jackson, swing around to the west and stop at the Mangy Moose in Teton Village. They have a restaurant as well as a bar. After dinner, head back to your hotel for some R & R.

Winter Sample Agenda #4

Get breakfast.

Drive to the elk refuge and take a sleigh ride out to feed the elk. Rides are on a first come first served basis. They depart 3 or 4 times every hour.

Get some lunch.

In the afternoon go to Teton Village and take a tram ride up the hill and back. Remember, though, that the tram will be closed until 2008. Even though the main aerial tram is being replaced, you can still get up the mountain on the Bridger Gondola.

In the evening take a Solitude Cabin sleigh ride and dinner. They serve roast prime rib au jus, filet of broiled salmon, or vegetarian entree. Good stuff. Call their phone number at (307) 739-2603 to make reservations.

These are some good honeymoon vacation ideas for you to look over. If you don't like a set agenda, you can still glean from these ideas and do what you want at your leisure.

Considering A Cruise On Your Honeymoon? Try Alaska

Taking a cruise for your honeymoon provides an opportunity for you to start your married life in a state of relaxation and Alaska has some of the most scenic and unspoiled vistas you will ever get to experience. Cruising past ancient glaciers and under soaring bald eagles can only be done in Alaska. Most Alaskan cruises are 7 night cruises, but some are 12 night cruise tours that will also take you to places like Denali National Park.

Cruising presents the comfort of five star luxury accommodations and provides unending excitement, adventure, the opportunity to get to know each other and to make new friends aboard your sea adventure.

Typical ports of call include: Juneau - The capital of Alaska offers world class hiking through glacial waterfalls and trough the largest temperate rain forest in the state.

Ketchikan - When you visit Ketchikan no visit is complete without visiting the totem pole museum where you can lean about the purposes of the totem poles, and how they were made. Be sure to have an umbrella when you are in Ketchikan, it is the rainiest city in the United States.

Skagway - When gold was discovered in Canada's Yukon Territory in 1898, Skagway became the launching point for many gold seekers. While in Skagway be sure to ride the famous White Pass and Yukon Railroad and visit the Red Onion Saloon.

Destination options in Alaska include glacier hiking, whale watching, bear watching, fishing and of course shopping. For the truly adventurous you can follow the footsteps of the Klondike gold rush miners up the White Pass. All cruise lines offering honeymoon packages have exquisitely appointed suites, gyms, swimming pools, spas, salons, shopping and casinos to pamper the cruiser and energize the mind, body and spirit.

There's no need to be concerned that you won't know what to do or what to bring on a cruise, there are many resources available online and directly with the cruise line to assist you in packing, activities planning and leisure options. And fear not, should you forget to pack an item for your honeymoon, the cruise ship will have shops onboard at which you can purchase anything from basic necessities to luxury items and souvenirs for friends back home.

Considering the option of only having to unpack once, visiting multiple locations, and being able to spend some quality time with your new spouse aboard a self-sufficient floating city, you can't go wrong cruising to Alaska on your honeymoon!
