Honeymoon Cruises and Ice Cream Machines

My wife and I had a great wedding. Family and friends on a gorgeous afternoon in the month of May. It couldn?t have gone better and as far as we?re concerned it was the best wedding we have ever been to. But them everyone says that about their wedding, probably even the people who send their wedding videos to those wedding bloopers shows.

But I digress. We chose to go on a cruise for our honeymoon, which turned out to be a lot of fun for both of us as neither of us had ever been on a cruise before. We cruised on one of the Fun Ships from Carnival Cruise Lines out of Port Orlando Florida. Now many of you experienced cruisers out there know all this but for us first timers going on a cruise was a new and novel experience.

Cruise ships are big, and the ship we were on was only considered medium sized. Trying to find our way around took a little getting used to, but by the second day it was pretty hard to get lost. The first thing we did was find out state room and drop of our carry on bags and then we were off to the lunch buffet up on the main pool deck. Now here?s where it gets a little confusing for the first time cruiser. Standing in the line at the buffet it suddenly dawned on me that like most cruises this one was all inclusive, except for alcoholic drinks. That meant I could get as much food from the buffet and it was already paid for. Not only that I could come back as many times as I wanted, not that I did. Realizing that we didn?t have to carry money with us was kind of liberating. All we really needed was our room key which doubled as a kind of charge card for things, such as alcoholic drinks, that weren?t part of the all inclusive package.

After lunch it was time to explore the ship and see what it had to offer. I won?t go into big detail here other than to say there was a lot to be done on a cruise ship. On the upper main deck at the back of the ship was casual dining establishment. It was always open and always had food available. Now as we walked through I noticed towards the back of the dining area a large kiosk. As we approached and came around it from behind it was like a dream come true.

A soft serve ice-cream machine. You know, like the ones at Dairy Queen. It took me a moment to realize that just like the lunch buffet back on the main pool deck; this ice cream was absolutely free. Do you get that, for 5 days and 4 nights I could come and get either vanilla, chocolate, or, and this is the best part, chocolate vanilla swirl ice cream anytime I wanted.

And right next to the bowls and spoons was every topping imaginable. They had chocolate, caramel, sprinkles, hot fudge, peanuts, cherries and whipped topping. It was like getting locked inside a Dairy Queen for the night, only the night lasted for 5 days. I mean, come one, that ice cream machine was more than worth the price of the entire honeymoon cruise.

So if you ever get a chance to go on a cruise make sure to find out if the ship you want to go on has a soft serve ice-cream machine. I know I?m looking forward to the next time my wife and I go on a cruise just for that simple fact.

Andrew Bicknell has gone on a honeymoon cruise and partook of the soft serve ice-cream machine. For more information about honeymoons and cruises check out his website Honeymoon Destinations.

Preparing For The Honeymoon Trip

Preparing for the wedding alone is already a headache. But it does not mean that you disregard the preparation for your honeymoon trip. Since wedding does not end after the exchange of vows, preparing for the honeymoon trip is equally important with preparing the wedding. And since this trip is the best time for you to spend your first days together as husband and wife, it should be taken into great account.

To make your honeymoon preparation less worrisome, here are some tips you can follow:

Plan ahead of time

Preparation should begin early. If you want to go to a honeymoon trip after the wedding celebration, then you should have already prepared for it long before the wedding day. Meanwhile if you will go to a honeymoon trip weeks after your wedding day, it is not an excuse to plan late. Preparing for the wedding day is also not an excuse to plan after the wedding. Everything should be prepared. Make sure you have already determined or have booked and made reservation on the location of your trip.

Create a checklist of everything

If the schedule is hectic and there is so much to do, you surely would forget some important things. Do avoid this from happening; create a checklist of everything you need to prepare. This does not only go with the honeymoon trip; it should also apply to the whole wedding preparation itself.

Finalize your travel documents

Make sure that your travel documents are all set before your honeymoon trip. Doing this early would save you a lot of trouble when the day closes near. If you are traveling outside the country, if is advisable to complete all your travel documents and keep them in a safe place.

Confirm your booking and reservation

Booking your flight and accommodation is not enough. You should confirm them days before you go. Making sure that everything is set and prepared once you arrive should be your primary concern.

Relax

After you?re stressful wedding preparation, you surely would not want to add pressure on your head. Keep in mind that one reason why you are going for a honeymoon trip is to relax, so you should relax. There is no reason why you should make the preparation for your honeymoon trip troublesome. Wedding preparation is stressful enough. You should not add some more.

14 Tips for an Affordable but Comfortable Tropical Honeymoon

The Affordable but Comfortable Tropical Honeymoon: Tip List

1. Schedule your departure day two days after the wedding to give you ample time for rest after the activities and the celebrations. If you must travel immediately, remember to leave in the middle of the day and not the early morning so you?ll get a good night?s sleep.

2. Ask your travel Agent for Honeymoon Packages, these usually offer the best destinations for honeymooners, not to mention discounts and freebies.

3. Never, ever overbook day trips, you?re not just traveling, you?re with your new Spouse, better save up some energy for the night?s fireworks.

4. Don?t be afraid to ask questions, ask about certain perks, events.

5. In addition to the above, don?t be afraid to request extra stuff, like a big bathtub, a double bed, or a romantic view.

6. Don?t forget to bring your marriage Certificate along with you, especially if the name of the bride is already under her husband?s name.

7. Pack your camera and lots of film; you won?t want to miss anything. You might also want to pack a disposable underwater camera and extra batteries, these are absurdly pricey in tourist spots, and you wouldn?t want to overspend.

8. Mention to anyone, especially in the caf? or in the tour boat, that you?re on your honeymoon, yes this may sound a bit embarrassing, but some restaurants give extras like free drinks or gifts for honeymooners. This also works for birthday celebrants.

10. If you want an active honeymoon, research and prepare for water sports; the tropics are a great place, to learn them, always remember to consult hubby before you try one though.

11. Stock up on sun protection. The higher the SPF the better, as you?ll probably be spending whole days out in the sun; you wouldn?t want to get skin cancer after just two weeks of marriage.

12. Some travel agencies include island hopping trips, these are great ways to explore, and enjoy. This is especially good because you?ll get a change in scenery, and won?t easily get bored, especially if you have an extended honeymoon.

13. Even if your valuables are inside your hotel room, keep them under lock, and if you decide to bring them with you, always watch out for stray pickpockets.

14. Bring with you a stock of candles and massage oils that you can place inside your hotel room for that romantic evening after touring and swimming.

And finally, have some fun, relax and enjoy youself.

If you simply would like your honeymoon to turn out a little more unique than the usual, then the following should give you some helpful ideas:

Go for Luxury?

Taking on a cruise is one honeymoon idea you can do. You can choose from several honeymoon cruise and travel places of your choice while enjoying each other?s company in a luxurious ship packed with everything you need. Better yet, exchange vows in the middle of the seas and spend the rest of the night watching stars and walking on the ship deck.

Booking on a most luxurious suite on the highest floor of the hotel. Here, you are pampered with the best services you can get while seeing the city up high. Booking for a luxurious hotel accommodation is always money well spent.

Staying at a luxurious resort in one of the islands of the Caribbean, Hawaii, Fiji or Asia is another honeymoon idea you can do. Spend the week at a tropical paradise while enjoying the resort amenities. Take the waters and head for the sun during the day. Spend hours in the open sea either doing some water sports or seeing the underwater world with a scuba or snorkel.

Another honeymoon idea is booking for an exclusive villa in a secluded island resort. Here, the freedom is yours to do everything you want to and you can experience the total privacy you?ve wanted to have.

Roaming the city street of Europe and tasting the food and culture of its countries is another honeymoon idea you can do. Go to England, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and other European nation and experience the magnificence of the cities established centuries back.

Budget conscious?

Spend the week in your house with champagne or wine would be enough to complete your honeymoon experience. Do nothing. Sleep anytime of the day. Lie on the bed together the whole day. Watch movies together. Do everything you want. After all the beauty of your honeymoon rests on both of you alone.

Go to one of your weekend getaways and spend the day doing something special. You can re-live your first days of dating or reminisce the early days of your relationship. You can also go to the place where you first met or dine at the restaurant where you first dated. These things could be enough to say that your honeymoon is complete.

Romantic Honeymooning Resort Deals

After dealing with all the demands of a wedding, you don't need more stress on your honeymoon. Romantic honeymooning resort deals save you money and take the stress out of the process.

Romantic Honeymooning Resort Deals

Planning the perfect honeymoon can be anything but relaxing. The stress of choosing a perfect location, time of year, and finding the best deal for your trip can all add up - making planning your honeymoon a chore instead of something to look forward to. One way to avoid the stress of planning a full honeymoon is to choose one of the many ready made deals that are available from travel websites and travel agents. Pre-set deals can definitely make this part of wedding planning easier and more enjoyable.

St. Lucia, named one of the top ten honeymoon destinations in the world, is one spot that has quite a few deals to choose from. St. Lucia is a smaller island nation that's located in the Caribbean, and has over its history, been a colony of Great Britain, and a member of the Federation of the West Indies. Currently (since 1979) St. Lucia has been an independent state within the Commonwealth of Nations - and the main spoken language here is English.

There are many different resorts that make perfect honeymoon spots on St. Lucia, and several of them offer honeymoon deals. One of these is the Ladera Resort, known as the most beautiful hideaway on St. Lucia. With extremely private rooms, overlooking the Les Pitons, this resort features a private plunge pool as well as gorgeous canopy beds in the rooms. Available at this resort is also a combination package, which allows you to stay for some of your honeymoon at the Sandals Regency Resort located in the northern part of the island, and then spend the balance of your honeymoon at the Ladera Resort.

The Body Holiday, an all-inclusive resort located on St. Lucia, is another choice for couples wanting a great romantic retreat. This spa resort with programs that are meant to rejuvenate the body, mind and spirit offers couples a different sort of island experience, but one that is still secluded and private. With 154 air conditioned rooms, the style of this resort may vary from others on St. Lucia, but the same breathtaking views and perfect beaches are available at this spot.

St. Lucia's many resorts offer some of the best of the Caribbean's romantic honeymoon options, and the lack of language barrier (for Americans) as well as the secluded feel of this small island makes St. Lucia the honeymoon destination you've been looking for.

Cut the Honeymoon Short

Generally, a lot of focus is put on the honeymoon. But have you ever considered the benefits of cutting it short? When my husband and I got married, he was getting over a throat infection. It was the middle of winter and we had planned to stay at a lodge for a few days. We ended up canceling our plans, not wanting to be that far away from a clinic if the infection came back. We still stayed at a themed inn for our wedding night, but went right to our apartment the next day. Both of us had two weeks off before going back to work. In the end, we were glad to have that time before getting back to the real world. I'm not suggesting you cancel your honeymoon. Simply come home a few days early, or give yourself a few extra days of time off. The transition time will be a starting block to your marriage. This was our experience:

Everyone still thought we were gone. We were able to lock ourselves in the apartment with no interruptions. If I remember right, we didn't even have the phone working until after a few days. We had plenty of time to open all of our presents and write thank you notes. The apartment got organized. Everything had a place. The majority of our things got unpacked. Anything left in a box after we went back to work was still there three months later. I can only imagine how little would have been unpacked if we only had a few days. The money that would have gone toward the honeymoon went straight into savings. That cushion was greatly appreciated when we both lost our jobs sixth months later.

It was a time to adjust to really living together. Not in a romantic getaway, but dealing with the realities of shopping, sharing a small bathroom, fixing dinner, etc. We were able to set up a routine so we didn't get thrown off when we got back to the reality of the work day. We learned how to cooperate and compromise. All of this would have been harder to do if we had immediately thrown ourselves back into our old schedules.

I would urge all engaged couples to schedule that extra time. If you even come home one day early, you still save money and have some sort of adjustment period. It's not worth it to come home from the honeymoon and go straight back to working and socializing. Give yourself that time. You'll be glad you did.
